This loft in a former industrial building in south London had a 3.4 metre-high ceiling, not enough height for two storeys. By utilising the wasted space beneath the beds, sufficient height was found for two galleried bedrooms. With an uninspiring outlook and no rooflighting, the interior needed objects that could be silhouetted against the available natural light: an internal landscape. The form of the cylindrical guest shower/cloakroom is repeated in a circular WC room. The guest sleeping platform is located above the cloakroom and the master bedroom is above the dressing room. A 4 × 3.1 metre-high sliding wall separates the master bedroom from the living space when privacy is required and doubles as a film projection screen. The kitchen has a wash-up area in the cupboards and cooking area on the island, with glass shelves acting as plate warmers.
